Local joiner covering Southport & a 15-mile radius.
Based on 17 Guildford Rd and out on the road every day across Southport, West Lancashire and North Merseyside.
One van. One joiner. All the towns Sam’s known since he was an apprentice.
SC Joinery is a proper local business - not a franchise and not a call-centre outfit that sends in whoever’s free. Sam lives in Southport, knows which streets have Victorian sash windows and which have 1970s aluminium units, and can be on most doorsteps within 25 minutes.
We cover 10 named areas in detail on this site, but if your town isn’t listed give us a call anyway - if you’re within a reasonable drive we probably still work there. The list below groups everywhere by distance from our workshop so you can see travel times at a glance.
Southport central
The postcodes we're in and out of most days of the week - same-week starts are normal for small jobs.

My home town and the base of the workshop. From Birkdale to Marshside, I've worked on houses across every Southport postcode - Victorian terraces on the Promenade, 1930s semis in High Park, newer builds in Kew.

Birkdale is period-property heaven - Victorian, Edwardian, and Arts & Crafts houses sitting in tree-lined streets. A lot of my Birkdale work is period restoration: sash windows, original door refitting, matching profiles on skirting and architraves.

One of the oldest parts of Southport - Churchtown is the conservation area around Botanic Gardens and the old village. Period joinery work is the order of the day: sash windows, solid doors, staircase restoration.

Between Southport and Formby along the coast - Ainsdale is home to a mix of 1930s semis and more modern developments. I've done several front garden gates along Liverpool Road and lots of alcove cupboards in the older properties.
Neighbouring towns
Towns and villages on our doorstep - a short drive each morning, no extra travel charge, plenty of repeat customers.

Across the Ribble marshland from Southport - 5 minutes by car. Banks is predominantly agricultural, with farmhouse-style properties and newer developments around the village centre. Rural jobs often mean bespoke gates, fencing runs, and barn conversions.

A 15-minute drive down the coast - I'm in Formby most weeks. Formby houses tend to be substantial detached properties, and I do a lot of large bespoke projects there: walk-in wardrobes, bespoke furniture, garden rooms, and premium decking runs.

Village on the north bank of the Ribble, about 12 minutes from Southport. Predominantly modern detached properties and farmhouses. Regular customer for garden projects, bespoke wardrobes, and larger bespoke furniture commissions.

Small coastal village between Formby and Crosby - I've done a fair bit of work along Sandy Lane and the surrounding streets, particularly seaside-resistant oak decks and treated timber gates.
Wider area
Covered by arrangement for medium and larger projects - garden rooms, staircases, full-house internal door refits. Smaller jobs usually still viable if we can combine the visit with another nearby booking.

About 20 minutes inland from Southport, Ormskirk mixes old market-town cottages with surrounding villages of large detached houses - Aughton, Scarisbrick, Halsall. A lot of oak gates, substantial decks, pergolas and bespoke garden joinery.

Crosby - especially Blundellsands and Waterloo - has beautiful Victorian villas and Edwardian semis. About 25 minutes south of Southport, I take on larger projects here: full renovations, bespoke staircases, fitted wardrobes and period restoration.
Still worth a phone call.
If you’re in Rainford, Halsall, Mawdesley, Hesketh Bank, Scarisbrick, Aughton, Preston or anywhere nearby we can usually still help - especially on larger jobs where a morning’s drive is a small share of the day. Just tell us your postcode and what you need doing.
