The range we show is based on Sam's actual 2026 day rates and the typical material spec for each service. For 80% of jobs the final written quote lands inside that range. The other 20% are usually either (a) jobs with unexpected structural issues we find on the site visit, or (b) jobs where the customer upgrades the spec once they see the options in person. Either way, you get a proper written quote before anything is agreed.

For jobs further out than 10 miles we include a small travel uplift (£12 per extra mile) to cover fuel and lost workshop time. For anything within the SC Joinery 10-mile zone - Southport, Formby, Ainsdale, Birkdale, Churchtown, Crosby, Ormskirk and everywhere in between - there is no travel charge at all.

We apply a £120 minimum call-out. It covers Sam turning up, an hour of work, and small materials. If the job truly takes only 20 minutes we'll find extra bits and pieces to sort in the hour - adjusting doors, fixing skirting, tightening handles - so you get value for the visit.

Yes - that's what the full written quote after the site visit is. The online range is a ballpark for budgeting. Once Sam has seen the job in person he can commit to a fixed price, which is what we actually work to. We don't do 'estimates that creep up' - if our quote says £X, you pay £X.
